EAG Upcoming Events: Water Month

Enviromental Action Group for Sustainability

This March, Furman’s Environmental Action Group (EAG) will continue its efforts towards sustainability through new and exciting events. Starting with guest speaker Peter Rogers and the showing of “Gimme Green” at Burgiss Theater, EAG will transition into its joint discussion with the Global Issues Forum (GIF) about the importance of water.

EAG has hosted similar events in the past and is engaged in all sustainability issues on campus. It is involved in many service projects, and it coordinates various events, like screening “Rip For Change” or hosting the annual contra dance. The organization also hosts CLPs and invites guest speakers, but from its beginnings, EAG has been geared more towards action over awareness.

EAG President Alison Bressler comments, “We want to get other people involved on campus, so lots of our events target the Furman body.” She further comments, “We are super diverse. We do things that interest our members. If someone has an idea, we will work with it and do it! It is run by everyone, not just the officers. It’s up to you all! Seriously, brainstorm like crazy.”

With teamwork in mind, EAG and GIF hope to inform Furman students about the importance of water and spur them to act in light of this issue.

Events occurring during “Water Month” are as follows:

  • Peter Rogers (GIF speaker/ Harvard Univ. Professor) and “Gimme Green” film (CLP event): Wed. March 14, 7:00pm, Burgiss Theater
  • CONTRA! Dance: Fri. March 16, 7:30pm-10:00pm, Watkins Room
